Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has warned all lawyers to back off on all stool cases.
Otumfuo who was addressing Asanteman Council last Thursday warned lawyers to hands off all stool cases. “I want to warn all those lawyers to hands off all stool cases or else they will be compelled to establish their own stool outside Asanteman.”
Otumfuo further warned the Paramount Chiefs that he did not want to hear that any Asanteman case has been sent to the law court again. “This should be the last. Nobody can compel me to go to court. There is no case which we cannot resolve here”, he noted.
The Asantehene seemed visibly angry over how some lawyers have found their way to send the case involving the destoolment of Adansihemaa to the Kumasi High Court.
He went further to state that “what is their interest in this? Do they want the queen mother back to the stool or not when she had treated Asanteman with contempt? Do they know how established is Asanteman; do they know how the stools came into being?
Narrating the events which took place before the destoolment of Adansihemaa, Kwantwiwaa Ampomaa, Otumfuo said she was required to produce her family tree just as her Abusuapanin, Kwadwo Fosu had done to establish legitimacy to the vacant Adansi Stool.
Adansihemaa failed to present her evidence as against the Abusuapanin who presented his evidence before Asanteman. When this was pointed out to her, the excuse was that she had left some documents at home and therefore asked for an adjournment of two weeks.
That was last time Asanteman saw her. Her next move was a letter from her lawyer, one Agbenu of the Yaanom Chambers in Kumasi summoning Asanteman to the High Court last December.
Otumfuo asked all the Chiefs to troop to the court in their numbers when the case is called again in court.
While the family settled on Kofi Amankwaah, the kingmakers settled on Kwaku Bonsra. Otumfuo endorsed Kwaku Bonsra and asked the necessary rites be performed before his presentation to Asanteman.
